Anti-rust coating EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L: TECHNICAL REPORT 23/08/99
Salt-spray and humidity chamber anti-rust tests gave excellent results for
sand-blasted steel coated with FIX-IT and EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L. No under-
rusting was observed due to a strong electropassivation effect. The
mechanical and chemical resistance of the EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L. coating
was remarkable ,which means: It can can serve as
  • application as anti-rust primer
  • or single application top -coat only

Organic-environmental-friendly COATING
Anti-rust coatings from six different suppliers were applied to plain carbon
steel tanks . The coated tanks were then evaluated by various criteria with
regard to their ability to act as replacement of stainless-steel tanks in the
food industry.
"EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L" was analysed as being the best-rated coating and
it´s use was by far more economic than any of the other five competitors
used by the Swiss steel industry.

Rust-primer withstands extreme conditions
EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L sucessfully protected steel equipment exposed to
high abrasive wear and to fast flowing humid air saturated with
polluting chemicals.

Even after two years of these extreme conditions EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L-
coated steel remained flawless.

Various other competitive epoxi-and polyurethane coating sytems tried out
earlier by this German company to protect their mobile environment-cleaning
equipment failed completely after only a few weeks in service.

Maritime Shipowner Protects Cargoholds with EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L
Transporting and goods handling of diluted waste acid usually lead to
heavy corrosion of the cargo tanks. When applying conventional protective
coatings, the dynamic stress induced by steel wall vibration causes
microfissures and premature phyiscal aging.

Due to its unique composite structure EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L easily resists
dynamic mechanical stresses and provides superior protection for ship
tanks and superstructures.

No extensive surface preparation is necessary.EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L is
applied without adhesion problems directly on the corroded steel tank
- even when it still has a considerable amount of the old tar coating.

Practical experience on diluted waste acid tanks has shown that
"easy to apply" EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L protective coating is an economic
and technical advanced method.

EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L: Heavy Duty Corrosion Testing as per DIN EN ISO 12944
FIX-IT plus EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L coated plates made from steel and zinc-plated steel
were tested as per DIN EN ISO 12944. Part 6 ,
Severity of corrosion environment C5-I, design protection time "long".
Result for all three test sections:
  • Degree of rusting Ri: 0 percent ,
  • Coating cracks 0 percent ,
  • Peeling 0 percent

The excellent anti-rust performance and the the good values in cross-cut testing,
adhesion strenght and zero degree of blistering prove one-coat EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L
to be fit for all aspects of heavy duty corrosion protection.

In many areas of application EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L is able to replace the failure-prone
and time-consuming multiple layer anti-corrosion coatings.
