DIRECTIONS FOR USE
GENERAL
SURFACE
PREPARATION
New Surfaces: Steel - Best results are obtained over a surface-
abrasive-blasted to a Near White Blast (SSPC-SP-10, SSI-Sa 2 1/2).

Performance over hand or power-tool cleaned surfaces is dependent
on the degree of cleaning.. Non-filming solvents such as acetone,
lacquer thinner, and MEK are suitable.

Surfaces must be dry , clean, free of oil, grease, dirt, mildew,
form release agents, curing compounds, loose and flaking paint and
other foreign substance before coating.

Apply a test patch of the coating system specified. Allow product(s)
to dry and cure at least one week before testing adhesion per ASTM
D 3359. If adhesion is poor, brush blast then prime with FIX-IT first.

Previously Painted Surfaces: If the old paint is more than 25%
failed by rusting, peeling, or flaking, it must be removed and treated
as a new surface. If less than 25% has failed, clean the failed areas
and spot-prime with FIX-IT. Old coatings should be tested for lifting.
If they lift, remove them. Scuff sand glossy areas and aged epoxy
coatings and apply FIX-IT first

==================================================

USE FIX-IT FIRST Always on sandblasted steel surfaces
Always on steel surfaces subject to constant water immersion
Always on old coatings which fail the above test for lifting

Apply a very thin layer of FIX-IT with a rag or sponge an let

air-dry for minimum 30 minutes

Thereafter apply primer coat EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L

FIX-IT plus EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L form an electropassivating layer
on the steel surface!

There are many practical situations where it is NOT NECESSARY to
use FIX-IT first and where a single coat of EVERLAST®C.A.R.O.L.
applied directly to firm rust gives excellent long lasting rust-pre-
vention results even without further top-coat: Please contact your
technical service center for further information.
